Terms of Service

Effective date: [To be added at launch]

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service govern the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the operator and members in connection with the use of Knitify Chart and related services (hereinafter "the Service") provided by [Trade name / Operator name, to be added after business registration] (hereinafter "the Operator").

Article 2 (Definitions)

  • "Service" means the entirety of knitting pattern chart creation, storage, sharing, and related features provided by the Operator.
  • "Member" means a person who agrees to these Terms, registers through Google account authentication, and uses the Service.
  • "Content" means all materials created or uploaded by a member within the Service, including charts, projects, and profile information.
  • "Subscription" means a service by which a member makes recurring monthly payments and uses paid features.

Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of the Terms)

  • The Operator shall post these Terms on a page within the Service so that members can easily review them.
  • The Operator may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate applicable laws and regulations.
  • When amending these Terms, the Operator shall specify the effective date and reasons for the amendment and give notice at least 7 days before the effective date. For amendments that are unfavorable to members, notice shall be given at least 30 days before the effective date.
  • If a member continues to use the Service without expressing an objection by the effective date of the amended Terms, the member shall be deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms. Members who do not agree may terminate (withdraw from) the service agreement.

Article 4 (Formation of the Service Agreement)

  • Registration for the Service is only possible through Google account authentication.
  • Persons under the age of 14 may not register for the Service.
  • The Operator may refuse to approve registration or may subsequently terminate the service agreement in the following cases: where another person's identity or information has been misappropriated; where the applicant has a history of use restrictions due to prior violations of these Terms; or where registration was applied for with fraudulent intent.

Article 5 (Account Management)

  • The member is solely responsible for managing the Google account used for registration and must not allow any third party to use it.
  • Each member is in principle limited to one account.
  • If a member becomes aware that their account has been misappropriated, they must immediately notify the Operator. The Operator shall not be responsible for any disadvantage arising from a failure to provide such notification.

Article 6 (Provision, Modification, and Suspension of the Service)

  • The Operator provides services including a chart editor, public feed, and saving and export functions. The specific features are as displayed on the Service screens.
  • The Operator may modify or suspend all or part of the free services as necessary for operational or technical reasons, and shall give advance notice of modifications that have a significant impact on members.
  • Service provision may be temporarily suspended in cases of unavoidable circumstances such as scheduled maintenance, system failures, or natural disasters.

Article 7 (Paid Services and Subscription)

  • This Article applies from the date paid services are introduced. All features of the Service are currently provided free of charge; before any paid service begins, the Operator will give prior notice and obtain the member's consent.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly basis; specific terms such as fees and billing cycle are displayed on the payment screen.
  • New subscribers receive a two-week (14-day) free trial. At the start of the free trial, the conversion date, billing amount, and cancellation method are disclosed and the member's explicit consent is obtained. No charge is made if the subscription is cancelled during the trial period.
  • Payment is processed through [Payment processor — to be added after confirmation].
  • If subscription fees are increased, notice shall be given at least 30 days before the increase takes effect and the member's consent shall be obtained.

Article 8 (Withdrawal of Offer and Refunds)

  • Members may cancel their subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, members may continue to use paid features until the end of the already-paid billing period, after which no renewal charge will be made.
  • If a member has not used any paid features within 7 days of the payment date, the member may withdraw the offer (receive a full refund) pursuant to the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce of Korea.
  • Once the provision of paid features has commenced, withdrawal of offer may be restricted pursuant to Article 17, Paragraph 2 of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce of Korea. The Operator shall display such restrictions before payment.
  • If a member is unable to use the paid service due to a cause attributable to the Operator, the Operator shall take necessary measures such as a refund in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Article 9 (Member Content)

  • Copyright in content created by a member within the Service belongs to that member.
  • The member grants the Operator the right to use the content to the extent necessary for operating and providing the Service (including storage, display, thumbnail generation, and exposure in the public feed). This right terminates when the member deletes the content or withdraws from the Service (excluding any technically necessary retention period for backup purposes).
  • Content that a member sets to public will be exposed to other users.
  • Members warrant that their content does not infringe the copyright or other rights of any third party, and the member shall bear responsibility for any disputes arising from their content.

Article 10 (Prohibited Conduct)

Members must not engage in any of the following conduct.

  • Posting designs or content that infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of others
  • Misappropriating another person's personal information or registering false information
  • Interfering with the stable operation of the Service through unauthorized access, use of automated means, or similar methods
  • Posting content that violates laws or public order and morals
  • Reselling, reproducing, or distributing the Service for commercial purposes without the prior consent of the Operator

Article 11 (Restriction of Use and Termination)

  • If a member violates these Terms, the Operator may, depending on the severity of the violation, issue a warning, delete or set content to private, suspend the member's use of the Service, or terminate the service agreement. Content reported by other users may be subject to action following review.
  • Members may withdraw from the Service at any time through the settings page.
  • An account may be restored within 30 days after withdrawal; after this period, account data will be deleted. For further details, please refer to the Privacy Policy.

Article 12 (Intellectual Property)

Intellectual property rights in the Service itself (including software, design, knitting symbol sets, and trademarks) belong to the Operator or the rightful rights holder. Members are granted only the right to use the Service and may not reproduce, distribute, or adapt it without the prior consent of the Operator.

Article 13 (Disclaimer)

The Operator shall not be liable in the following cases. However, this does not apply to damages caused by the Operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence.

  • Where the Service cannot be provided due to natural disasters or equivalent force majeure events
  • Where a failure in the use of the Service occurs due to a cause attributable to the member
  • Damages caused by defects in services provided free of charge
  • Disputes arising between members or between a member and a third party through the Service

Article 14 (Damages)

If the Operator or a member causes damage to the other party by violating these Terms, the responsible party shall be liable to compensate for such damage.

Article 15 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

  • The laws and regulations of the Republic of Korea shall apply to matters relating to these Terms and the use of the Service.
  • In the event of a dispute relating to the use of the Service, either party may bring an action before the competent court in accordance with the Civil Procedure Act.
  • These Terms are provided in Korean and English. In case of any discrepancy in interpretation between the two versions, the Korean version shall prevail.
